Beloved,

The Word for today is ARE YOU AN IDOL WORSHIPER? Of course we are all familiar with the commandment that we shall not have any other god before GOD. Did you know that anyone who puts anything before service to God is an idolater
. Matthew 6:33?

This is so braod and vast that it makes us have to be very careful because ANYTHING that we put before service to GOD is a grave violation of this commandment. It is so easy to do without even realizing it! It can be our spouse, children, extracurricular activites, television, money...ANYTHING!

So, I want you to always ask the question - "if I do this now is it being put before service to GOD?" How do you know if it is? Well, if you do it would any of these be the result:

1. Miss church or other service that you are supposed to be attending?
2. does it cause you to make a choice between doing what is scripturally right?
3. is it the result of covetness?
4. does it distract from your personal time with GOD?

There are so many ways. But, you will know because you will feel convicted usually on the obvious ones. But also, do you put people before GOD? (i.e., your children, spouse, etc.) Do you go to bingo instead of service, or do you leave service early for something else? Do you shorten your prayer time to meet with someone, or do something else?

GOD is jealous! He really is! So, I would just say be careful that you don't get in such a hurry that you fail to acknowledge HIM in all your ways.
